  • Research summary

The ability to form a clot is a crucial aspect of health. Indeed, probably the best known example of the failure of this ability is haemophilia, which can cause boys and men to bleed to death because they are unable to form a good clot. However, the mere presence of the clot itself may not be enough as there is growing evidence that the quality of the clot is important. What this means in practice is that some people may be able to form a substantial and effective clot, whereas other cannot, so that they may be more at risk of bleeding. The objective of this project is to determine the quality of clots in patients with a type of heart flutter (atrial fibrillation).
