Research summary
This study will examine the feasibility and desirability of a chemotherapy administration pathway that is “closer to home” for patients with blood cancer living in an urban area.
Patients that attend the Haemato-oncology department for chemotherapy administration at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital NHS Trust will be provided with a questionnaire by the author to explore their views and experiences of chemotherapy administration. The data collected will allow the author to investigate their views on a “closer to home” chemotherapy administration pathway for patients with blood cancer. The data will also allow identification of suitable patients and chemotherapy treatments that could be administered in a “closer to home” setting. It will also illustrate the properties of an ideal location for “closer to home” chemotherapy administration and allow costs of a proposed novel pathway to be estimated.
It is hoped that this work will contribute to innovative working in Liverpool and redesign of the chemotherapy administration pathway for patients with blood cancers.
