Research summary
The research project will use a Grounded Theory approach to explore some of the dilemmas encountered by therapists, patients and their families in family therapy and how these influence the initial risk assessment. For the theapist this may be balancing the need to gather information about the self-harm with the need to engage a patient. For the patient, this may be balancing the need to engage with the therapist with the uncertainty of disclosing information about their self-harm.
