Research summary
Our research team has produced a new medical device (known as a synthetic graft) which has been made for patients who need dialysis. This device is made of a material similar to plastic. Studies in animals have shown that this graft provides good results compared to the grafts currently in clinical use. We hope to use this new graft material for patients who require 'fistulas' (a surgically-made connection between an artery and a vein) for dialysis, and prove that our graft material is significantly better compared to the currently used graft materials.
