Research summary
The primary aim of this observational study is to ascertain the prevalence of corticosteroid-induced cataract (CIC) in the population of children with steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) attending the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) and its affiliated district hospitals. We will further determine the proportion of these cases that have mutations in the 113 genes known to be associated with cataract formation. The study will also document the spectrum of other ophthalmological abnormalities in this childhood population.
