  • Research summary

    Research Summary

Chronic cough is a recognised health problem. The understanding and complexity has lead to a number of treatment options. Speech therapy has been recognised as a form of treatment however the outcomes of this treatment has not been fully analysed.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the outcomes of the therapy using pre and post therapy questionnaires to see if identifiable subgroup of patients have a better or poorer outcome.

    Summary of Results

The study recruited 14 patients who completed the pre therapy questionnaires. however not all completed the post questionnaire to allow meaningful conclusion.
The study environment was complicated by change in the service moving to another department. this then was followed by amendments to onboard new teams. then it was challenged by lack of time to identify patients for recruitment and then COVID which then led to halting the trial.
