  • Data collection arrangements

    CADRE (Child & Adolescent Data Resource) is a Trusted Research Environment that brings together pseudonymized multi-agency data relating to children and young people (CYP) within the region of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to make it available to approved researchers.

    CADRE Cambridge will include electronic records data (health, education and social care) from: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT);
    Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH); Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS);
    Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC); Peterborough City Council (PCC).
    Northwest Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT)

    Such environment will have the technological capabilities of carrying out privacy-preserving federated analytics with independent SDEs based in other geographical regions so that researchers can analyse data from different local environments with uniformised privacy standards without such data leaving each separate SDE.

    The CADRE network is planned to be expanded beyond Cambridge and Greater Manchester with the support of the Mental Health Mission, currently engaging with clinical leads from the West Midlandsand Merseyside.

  • Research programme

    The CADRE-Cambridge project was motivated by the research needs of Dr Anna Moore’s group and collaborators and previous pilots testing the hypothesis that integration of multi-agency data will lead to improved diagnosis and treatment of child mental health problems. The region is planning major investment into integrated child and adolescent mental and physical health, with emphasis on community provision, via Cambridge Children’s Hospital. This provides an important opportunity to bring together the data relating to children and young people (CYP), and make it available for researchers in a safe, secure and publicly acceptable way, to support improved integrated services, early identification and intervention, and the provision of personalised care pathways. CADRE will also support the Mental Health Mission (MHM), one of the healthcare research priorities announced by the UK government as part of its 'Life Sciences Vision'. The MHM aims to increase capacity in mental health research through providing relevant training and creating better systems to support industry and academic led research and investment across the UK. Specific focus is paid to addressing both areas of unmet need and high burden of mental illness. The University of Manchester is leading on the Children and Young People’s theme for the Mental Health Mission. The CADRE partnership will be supporting the delivery of the theme’s “System Development and Integration” work package.
