Research summary
Specialised immune cells are present within the lining of the small intestine and play a crucial role in intestinal immune defences. A technique called flow cytometry is required to characterise these cells in detail. This study aims to optimise techniques for isolation and measurement of these cells and to study changes in their populations during the course of conditions where they may be implicated such as Coeliac disease and following intestinal transplantation and bone marrow transplantation.
