  • Research summary

Over 50% of patients having a pancreas transplant develop pancreatitis, this Inflammation and injury to the pancreas organ following transplantation is one of the main reasons complications are seen after surgery. Using a PET scan and FACBC tracer we hope to understand how much injury and inflammation is present, which we hope will help us identify at risk patients and allows the provision of treatments against these early complications. This is a pilot study involving 20 patients at a single centre.
