Research summary
Amblyopia is the most common vision deficit in children, affecting 2-5 % of children in UK and the second most common cause of functional low vision in children in low-income countries. It is traditionally considered to be the result of suppression of the image from one eye at the level of the brain. However, little is known about this suppression. In our study we will explore whether and how it changes during standard treatment, and whether changes depend on age or correlate with changes in visual acuity or contrast sensitivity in the amblyopic eye or changes in interocular acuity difference.
