  • Research summary

This study seeks to explore the experiences of parents in order to ascertain the levels of nursing support and what interventions are offered (or not) to parents of extremely premature infants in the community setting, following their discharge home. This will help to gain a deeper understanding of what is required in relation to tailored resources for both parents and health professionals to best care for the challenges and needs of parents of extremely premature infants. In addition, it is hoped that this study can inform future research that explores, on a larger scale, the effectiveness of interventions and resource development for parents/families.

Research from both England and Australia will enable comparisons.
