Research summary
This study aims to explore the experiences of family and/or carers who are supporting an individual with acquired brain injury through a post-acute rehabilitation process. The study will adopt a qualitative methodology – Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) – to access an insider perspective on the phenomena studied. It is anticipated that 3-6 participants will take part in semi-structured interviews that will be audio-recorded and then transcribed with the resultant transcript data being analysed according to the IPA methodology. The Chief Investigator of this study will conduct the research interviews, transcribe and analyse the data. The Academic Supervisor will co-analyse at least 10% of the transcript data for validation purposes. It is anticipated that the study will be written up and disseminated in a number of ways including report summaries for participants and health service staff and submission for publication in a peer reviewed journal.
