Research summary
Acute ischemic stroke is a leading cause of global mortality and disability, with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) established as cornerstone treatments. Despite their proven efficacy in general populations, the safety and effectiveness of these interventions in patients undergoing interventional cardiological procedures remain insufficiently studied. The CLOT International Collaboration aims to address this gap by evaluating the outcomes of IVT with or without MT in patients who experience acute ischemic stroke secondary to cardiological interventions.
This multicenter, retrospective registry study will analyze anonymized data from participating centers, including patients admitted with acute ischemic stroke since January 1, 2018. Eligibility criteria include confirmed neuroimaging evidence of acute ischemic stroke, treatment with IVT with or without MT within 24 hours of symptom onset, and an interventional cardiological procedure performed within the preceding 28 days. post-stroke. By bridging critical gaps in existing knowledge, the CLOT study aspires to enhance the understanding of acute ischemic stroke management in the context of cardiological interventions, ultimately improving clinical care and patient outcomes.REC name
