  • Research summary

We propose a prospective evaluation over five years (n= 200) of the physiological parameters (cardiac output, cardiac index, stroke volume and oxygen delivery) of patients during donation after cardiac death (DCD), observing their physiological status in the peri-withdrawal phase, using a calibrated, minimally invasive cardiac output monitor (Lithium Indicator Dilution Calibration System (LiDCOplus). The aim is to establish criteria, based upon physiological parameters, to guide decision making in DCD donation of abdominal organs.
