Research summary
We aim to serially measure novel biomarkers in ischaemic and dilated heart failure with an ejection fraction of under 30% to investigate how levels change with optimal medical treatment or with percutaneous intervention against changes in left ventricular ejection fraction and other surrogate markers of heart function and outcomes. We also want to see if these biomarkers vary and correlate with myocardial fibrosis. These biomarkers include ST2, Galectin 3, apelin and microRNAs.
