Research summary
Women with breast cancer are now surviving longer than they did 20 years ago because of access to earlier screening and new treatments. This has resulted in cancer services changing to cope with increased resource pressures. Nurse led clinics have been a successful way in providing supportive care and improving quality of life for patient’s long term. Similar pressures on clinic appointments have arisen with patients taking part in clinical research studies. Therefore, Nurse Led Clinics have been set up as a way to support and assess patients on trial follow up. Although, there is evidence to say that cancer patients are satisfied with Nurse Led follow up, Research Nurse led clinics have not been assessed. This study aims to understand if it would be feasible to deliver and recruit patients with breast cancer into a study assessing the satisfaction and empathy with in a new nurse led clinic.
