Research summary
False-positive referrals are at high-levels for ophthalmology departments. This is detrimental from a cost, time and patient anxiety/satisfaction perspective.
We will be conducting a prospective analysis of referrals from 3 optometric practices for 3 months to Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. We will then give optometrists access to our website designed to help decision making at the point of referral. We will monitor referrals for 3 months whilst optometrists use the website.
We will be conducting qualitative data collection from optometrists to elicit current barriers to referral and also how the website fits in with their practice.
No patients will be used for this study.REC name
