Research summary
Last year, the CI conducted qualitative research looking at whether drama workshops could help medical students understand the 'story behind the story'. There is anecdotal evidence that students (and doctors) rush through to get to the diagnosis but spend little time getting to know the patient. This side is extremely important in enhancing the patient experience, particularly in the wake of the Francis report. The CI would like to see if drama workshops actually have an impact in gaining a fuller patient narrative from the medical students' and patients' perspective and whether using these techniques enhance the patient experience.
