  • Data collection arrangements

    The aim of the Pathology Biobank is to provide samples for the following:
    1.Researchers including various types of biomedical and translational research. This will include studying diseases and mechanisms underlying diseases such as cancer, and testing existing and developing new and novel treatments for diseases.
    2.Provide samples for clinical audit and public health surveillance, including epidemiological assessment of developing clinical trends, epidemics or pandemics

    No samples will be used for animal research or stem cell research. Samples for genetic studies, will only be released if there is explicit consent for such use, and researchers have National Research Ethics Service approval to use such samples

    Storage locations to include:
    Within the CUH pathology directorate. There will be three locations. Firstly within the Blood Sciences department, Level 4, Pathology Block, and Specialist Haemostasis Unit, Cambridge Haemophilia and Thrombophilia Centre both Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Secondly, a remote archive location in Westbrooke House, Newmarket will be established for storage.
