Research summary
The CAIRO Study is a survey observing patients consulting in general practice and completing an automated check-in screen prior to their booked appointment, to confirm their attendance. Participants will be recruited over three weeks from approximately 10 participating general practices, approximately n=1,166 per participating practice (depending on practice list size and number of consulting clinicians during recruitment period).
The primary objective of the study is to examine the number of patients indicating a positive screening for depression experienced during the past month, using the two validated Whooley Questions, whilst self-completing an automated check-in screen prior to any general practice consultation.
Secondary objectives will examine completion rates of the additional research questions and demographic variances in completion responses.
