  • Research summary

The current study will build on ongoing work running 'CWiTS' in local authority stop smoking services. We will pilot running a caffeine reduction intervention by recruiting quitting smokers through GP surgeries and pharmacies stop smoking services. We will measure caffeine metabolites and self-reported nicotine withdrawal and caffeine-related symptoms in groups of smokers that have been randomised either to usual care (i.e., no caffeine reduction) or to usual care plus caffeine reduction. We will also conduct interviews with staff and service users to develop a best practice of caffeine reduction in smoking services.
