Research summary
We want to investigate whether the Caesarean Section scar makes the womb larger, the overall weight of the womb heavier and the womb wall (myometrium) thicker. In addition, we want to look into the Caesarean Section scar under the microscope in order to better understand the changes occurring to the tissues in the area of the scar.
What is the purpose of the study?
1- To determine whether the wombs of women with previous Caesarean Section (group 1) undergo changes in weight and wall (myometrium) thickness compared to those who did not undergo Caesarean Section (group 2 or “control group”) in the past.
2- To describe the histological (microscopic) findings within the scar tissue.
We believe that the changes occurring in the womb after Caesarean Section can cause menstrual disorders.
The results of this study may help us understand potential differences in the wombs with Caesarean Section scar versus those without Caesarean section scar. If those microscopic differences are statistically significant, then we may design a larger clinical study in order to investigate the difference in symptoms between these 2 groups. We believe that the changes occurring in the womb after Caesarean Section can cause menstrual disorders.REC name
