Research summary
Adequate physical activity can alleviate health consequences related to bladder cancer. However, our research has shown that levels of physical activity in those living with and beyond cancer are critically low.
We have co-created a tool to promote physical activity (home-based exercise) in those living with and beyond bladder cancer. The tool is in the form of a self-guided printed booklet. The content has been developed by patients, health professionals and experts in the field. The self-guided booklet will be given to the patients between diagnosis and treatment by the medical consultant leading the patients care. We will evaluate the impact of the booklet on patients’ physical activity levels, physical and psychological health using an experimental trial. We will interview patients to identify their experiences of using the guide. Finally, we will precise the content of the booklet based on findings. Beyond this project we will work to integrate the content into a mobile application, which can be disseminated far and wide.REC name
