Research summary
Bronchiectasis is a chest problem that has repeated infections or “flare ups” as part of the condition. It is important that every patient with bronchiectasis knows what their condition is and how best to care for it. One way of doing this is to have credible, useful information which is easily accessible. This study is seeking to establish if patients diagnosed with bronchiectasis around the UK believe an information resource we are calling a “passport” would be helpful to improve their understanding and care of their bronchiectasis. As part of this study we will invite patients' to a focus group with other patients and/or carers with bronchiectasis. The focus group will be run by a two researchers who will ask the group some questions about their views on the bronchiectasis passport. These focus groups will be recorded and transcribed so the researchers can update or make changes to the passport if required. The focus groups will last around 1 hour.
