Research summary
The study team would acquire patient identifiable data (PID) from NHS England, who hold data from the national cancer registry and other related databases. The acquired data will be analysed in order to assess survival rates for patients diagnosed at any of the stages/and with any subtype of breast cancer or treated for it in the last ten year period, at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, CUH NHS FT. A comparative study will be carried out to assess the outcomes for patients who took part in clinical research versus those who did not. A critical aim of this project is to understand the performance of CUH from an NHS service point for breast cancer, compared to natiional outcome data and research perspective. This would help us to determine whether outcomes have improved over the last ten year period, and inform us in terms of how to focus resources for NHS service, and research. Information regarding outcomes from patients with different breast cancer subtypes will equip us in allocating resources for the right kind of research, in future.
