Data collection arrangements
Prior to donation, informed consent will be obtained from any potential donor. Samples and associated data will be collected from Biobank donors by a member of their clinical team or a research team member, depending on the context.
Samples will be stored in the School of Biomedical Sciences, managed by the University of Bristol. Data will be held in the Biobank database on a secure server and separately located backup server, both in securely locked University of Bristol premises.
Research programme
The Biobank will support research across the area of Immunity & Infection in Bristol and beyond. This includes, but is not limited to, research exploring how the immune system works in health and disease, who is likely to carry or get ill due to certain bacteria or viruses, and how cancer patients respond to targeted immunotherapies. The collection of a wide range of samples will allow a coordinated approach to research of complex conditions and will encourage collaborations to develop.
