Research summary
Over the past decade there have been significant advances in laboratory diagnostics and neurosurgical management of brain abscesses. Liverpool has one of very few dedicated regional neurosurgical centres and there have been several previous publications documenting the causes and management of patients with brain abscesses since the 1950s. This study aims to update the current literature and describe the causes, management and outcome of patients since 2005 until the end of 2017.
