  • Research summary

We aim to examine why some pigeon fanciers develop changes within the substance of the lung, known as interstitial lung disease using genetic approaches.

We anticipate that this research will provide new insights into why some pigeon fanciers develop the interstitial lung disease pigeon fanciers lung (both the acute and chronic versions), and that our work will also provide new insights into common pathways relevant to interstitial lung diseases with no known cause, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (with unclear antigen)
