Research summary
This registry aims to recruit patients treated at NHS Trusts in the UK with a procedure to place a stent within the heart artery using a combination of orbital atherectomy (a device for modifying calcium in the heart arteries) with optical coherence tomography (a device to provide high resolution images within the heart arteries that is known to improve outcomes). Both of these devices are in routine clinical care within the UK and internationally. The aim of the registry is to evaluate the real world outcomes in patients treated with these devices. If the participant consents to be included in the registry there will be no additional clinical treatment required, the research team will collect data from the participants medical records. This data includes some background information and information about the procedure along with some images from the angiogram and optical coherence tomography. Participants will be asked to be available for a follow up telephone call approximately 1 year after the qualifying procedure to find out how they are getting on.
A retrospective registry of cases where orbital atherectomy has been used previously to evaluate the outcomes of these patients, in particular any learning curve considerations. Sites participation in the retrospective registry is optional. Participants included in the retrospective registry will not be consented. Sites will use the National Opt Out and only anonymised data will be collected from participating sites.
