Research summary
We are interested in developing novel blood tests to detect the presence of cancer at an early stage. We have optimised a blood based cancer test in oesophageal cancer, we would like to test its performance with pancreatic cancer.
Our test measures blood cell mutations, we have shown cancer patients have more mutated cells than non-cancer patients. We would like to answer the following question:
Do pancreatic cancer patients have more blood cell mutations than non-cancer controls. As well as blood, we would like to later access the biopsy material collected for routine clinical purposes to compare mutation in the pancreatic tissue to that in the blood cells (no additional biopsies collected).
