Research summary
With the emergence of new pharmalogical anti-scarring treatments, there is a need for validated and objective scar measurement devices. However there is currently a lack of sensitive and specific tools that can aid clinicians in making an objective evaluation of a scar. Thus the objective of this study is to validate a panel of selected objective scar measurement tools in burn scars in terms of reproducibility (single and multiple assessors) and combining the scores of the different scar tools to form a single, easy to understand, objective global scar score.
