Research summary
Bronchoscopy is a procedure that allows researchers to take samples from the lung that can be studied to help improve the knowledge of inflammation and infection within the lungs. Our research team have developed methods of taking samples from the upper respiratory tract that help us to understand what happens in the upper airways of healthy volunteers following a period of colonisation with pneumococcal bacteria. We want to use this knowledge to look at the airways in a wider population including participants with respiratory conditions.
We aim to recruit healthy volunteers and volunteers with respiratory disease to undergo respiratory sampling and blood sampling and bronchoscopy with bronchial sampling.REC name
