Research summary
This research project will essentially compare children with and without a lazy eye to decide whether those without are performing better with both eyes together. In other words, does having one eye that is lazy reduce the impact of the two eyes together?
This will be achieved by testing vision (both eyes open) in children between 3-8 years of age at their usual Orthoptic appointments at Southampton Eye Unit. Data will be collected on other tests performed but these tests will not differ in any way from what is normally done at such appointments. The reason for collecting such data is to ensure no other factors affect the results and to provide evidence that inclusion/exclusion criteria for participation is met. Consent will be gained from parents prior to any participation and all data will be kept confidential.REC name
