Research summary
Pulmonary Hypertension or high blood pressure confined to the lungs is a lethal, debilitating, rare condition. The initial phase of the condition is silent and by the time diagnosis can be made based on symptoms the disease is so advanced that few patients can expect a normal quality or length of life. We now have treatments that significantly delay disease progress . Like ordinary high blood pressure, we need to get to a point of preventing complications of this condition rather than only treating after the heart has begun to fail.
We have already established that early diagnosis is possible, and now need to validate and demonstrate that early diagnosis using the DETECT tool is achievable in real life and explore the consequences of early diagnosis.REC name
