Data collection arrangements
This project will use routinely collected electronic health record data held by Barts Precision Medicine Platform. Relevant health care data have already been mapped to the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model as part of established data curation activities. Data extraction and analysis will be conducted within Barts Health–approved secure data environments, in line with local information governance approvals.
No patients will be contacted, and no new data will be collected directly from participants.
Research programme
The database supports a programme of applied clinical research and service evaluation focused on improving the quality, safety, and equity of care using routinely collected health data. The Trust maintains a curated secondary care dataset mapped to the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model, enabling consistent, reproducible analysis across clinical pathways while preserving patient confidentiality. This resource underpins research across trauma and orthopaedic surgery, emergency care, acute medicine, and long-term conditions, with a particular emphasis on evaluating real-world treatment outcomes, variation in care delivery, and device and procedure performance. The database is used by a multidisciplinary community including NHS clinicians, clinical academics, data scientists, and information governance specialists working within Trust-approved secure data environments.
