Research summary
This is a preliminary cross-sectional survey, to obtain self-completed qualitative and quantitative data for a future NIHR RfPB application. The aim of the future study is to provide a weight management programme intervention, tailored for patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Prior to the application we want to ask patients who attend the King's College Hospital Rheumatology outpatient clinic (via 2 consecutive self-developed questionnaires in collaboration with patients) what:
(i) the barriers for weight management are in patients with RA and
(ii) what patients' views are of taking part in a weight management programme and how weight loss can be best sustained over time.
The findings will help us in the development of the future weight management intervention that has a three pronged approach, based on evidence, namely monitor of diet intake, physical activity and behavioural changes.REC name
