  • Research summary

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) spans a spectrum of liver conditions ranging from fatty liver, through to liver inflammation and fibrosis, cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. Recent evidence has shown that the closer you are to an ‘ideal’ Mediterranean Diet (MD) the greater the health benefits across the wide range of fatty liver conditions.

However, we do not fully understand how realistic this style of eating is in the North East of England. Hearing patient perceptions of how practical it is to follow the MD is extremely helpful to those seeking to develop optimum lifestyle interventions for this condition.
