  • Research summary

BAMBINI 2.0 is the long-term follow-up of patients from the BAMBINI randomised-controlled clinical trial who were randomised to medical care or bariatric surgery. The original clinical trial was designed for women with a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, obesity and oligomenorrhoea or amenorrhoea. In this study, we will invite all participants who received their randomly assigned intervention (medical care or surgery) to attend the clinical research facility for a single visit. At this visit, we will discuss the new study and obtain informed consent followed by a medical questionnaire, blood tests, a urine pregnancy test and optional sub-studies which is a fat biopsy (performed during the original trial as well) and a genetic blood test.
