Research summary
This study seeks to optimise respiratory care pathways for difficult-to-treat asthma by characterising the natural history of the disease and its triggers through the combination of medical health data from GP records and data collected by the ongoing longitudinal monitoring of real-time biometrics measured via clinically validated wearables, as well as quality of life and disease symptoms data collected via a specialised digital patient-recorded outcomes (PROs) platform i.e., app.
This is a single visit observational study of patients visiting the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as the primary site, with additional recruitment both from additional secondary care treatment centres and primary care sites, to ensure that patients who often do not require admission, but may have multiple primary care healthcare interactions in the community, can be recruited.REC name
