Data collection arrangements
The East of England has recently formed an asthma network. The aim of this network is to deliver the best care available to all patients with asthma. Every patient's asthma is different, but there are several identifiable types of asthma. Increasingly, there are therapies for treatment available depending on the exact type of asthma a patient suffers from.
We seek to establish a database that will enable us to identify the numbers of patients with certain types of asthma in order to better deliver treatment. Also, the database will help us monitor responses to treatment.
Patients who are on the database will be asked if they wish to be contacted about future asthma research studies. If so, this information will also be recorded in the database.
Research programme
1. accurate data as to the numbers of patients with certain subtypes of asthma 2. regional differences in asthma treatment and outcome of therapy
