    This study seeks to explore the barriers and enablers to the implementation of recent NICE and BTS/SIGN guidelines on asthma diagnosis, centred on two primary care clusters in BCUHB as case studies, representing a purposively sampled group of professionals working in North and South Denbighshire primary care clusters. In this way the objectives of the study are:

    1. To examine the current use of national asthma diagnostic guidelines within primary care in BCUHB focusing on the cases of North and South Denbighshire primary care clusters;
    2. To identify of how current asthma diagnosis is understood and operationalised by the professionals involved within the diagnostic process in primary care
    3. To understand the barriers and enablers to the implementation of NICE and BTS/SIGN asthma guidelines.
    4. To provide recommendations for future development of practice in supporting the implementation of NICE and BTS/SIGN asthma guidelines.
