Research summary
Up to 20 service users will be recruited through the Alzheimers Society NI who will have been diagnosed with early stage Dementia. This will provide us with 10 suitable participants following the MMSE assessment criteria and also allowing for drop outs. These participants will complete the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and a novel colour assessment tool for assessing cognitive state using a mobile Application. Research staff from the Ulster University will aid the participant over a 6 month period when these assessments will be carried out once per month. We will look for a correlation between the standard method (MMSE) and Brightlighton assessment tool as the primary outcome.
