  • Research summary

The purpose of this study is to identify and test the effectiveness of different algorithms for de-identifying narrative clinical records. Effective de-identification of clinical records would facilitate the reuse of information in the narrative content of electronic medical records, for clinical research of all types. Understanding how effective such systems are in the context of NHS patient records is needed before we can progress quality improvement research.
