  67% of human pancreases donated for pancreas transplantation are discarded as deemed unsuitable, but with a growing waiting list and pancreas transplantation offering a cure for diabetes, correctly evaluating which organs are suitable is important.

  This study will assess viability, function and anatomy using a number of tests scaled from visual assessment down through using microscopes and scans will allow information to create an actual grading system for pancreases to allow better and more accurate evaluation, optimising use of organs.
