Research summary
We will use frozen human tissue from commercial suppliers or academic collaborators to assess the presence of various targets of interest. The tissue will be taken from a variety of tumours and inflamed/diseased tissue plus healthy tissue control. By staining the same target proteins in healthy and diseased tissue, we can identify differences between the location and expression levels of our targets which will indicate whether they may be suitable targets for therapeutics. We will also use cells that have been derived from fresh human tissue to assess the function of novel therapeutics in vitro. Access to human cells from diseased tissue for these studies is essential to make the information generated as relevant to patients as possible.
