Research summary
This is a study using stored serum from head and neck cancer patients and healthy volunteers from a previous ethically approved study 05/Q1105/55. The serum is acellular and can therefore be stored with no ethical issues. We are now applying to use the serum samples from that study to determine the concentration of chemokines present. The study will involve the screening of 4 patient samples and 4 healthy controls and then from this specific chemokines will be selected for identification in a cohort of 87 stored serum samples and 23 healthy controls.
