Research summary
This is a single-site, observational study, based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of IBD will be recruited from Outpatient Clinics, Medical Day Unit and Inpatient wards over a 4 month period. During this period it is aimed to recruit between a minimum of 150 patients and a maximum of 250 patients.
We are to assess the demand for an integrated psychology service within a cohort of IBD patients, and determine how this service can be optimally designed.
We will use a questionnaire and mental health score index to assess the current prevalence of stress and/or depression and/or anxiety in our patient cohort. We will also collect data on secondary healthcare usage during this period.
