Research summary
Heart failure (HF) is a debilitating and complex condition and it is estimated to affect approximately 900,000 people in the United Kingdom (UK). HF has become a leading cause of disability among older adults in industrialized countries, with consequent burden on clinical and public health resources, social services and patient’s families.
This study will attempt to estimate the addtional cost, emotionally and financially related to a diagnosis of heart failure (of at least 12 months before enrolment), for both patients and informal caregivers in the UK.
This is a multi-site, non-interventional, cross sectional study of patients with heart failure and their primary caregivers to be conducted in the UK. The study is planned to be implemented in approximately five (5) investigative sites throughout England.
The design of the study is a survey that will be completed by patient and primary caregiver participants in a paper based format.REC name
