  • Data collection arrangements

The ArchiBoLT International Registry will store anonymised or pseudonymised retrospective clinical data relating to adult and paediatric liver transplant recipients who underwent placement of an Archimedes™ biodegradable biliary stent during routine clinical care.

Data will be collected retrospectively from:
    electronic patient records,
    transplant databases,
    operative records,
    radiology systems,
and laboratory systems at participating centres.

    Data collected may include:
    patient demographics,
    donor and graft characteristics,
    operative details,
    biliary anatomy,
    postoperative laboratory and radiological findings,
    biliary complications,
    endoscopic, radiological, or surgical interventions,
    graft outcomes,
    patient survival,
    length of hospital stay,
    and readmission data.

No directly identifiable patient information will be entered into the central registry database. Each participant will be assigned a study-specific registry identifier.

Data will be managed using a secure REDCap database hosted under King’s College London governance arrangements and compliant with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 requirements. Access will be restricted to authorised study personnel only.

  • Research programme

The ArchiBoLT International Registry will support collaborative observational research in adult and paediatric liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, transplant medicine, and biliary reconstruction outcomes. The registry has been established to support: clinical outcomes research, multicentre registry analyses, audit and service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and future collaborative transplant research. Research arising from the database may evaluate: biliary leak and biliary stricture rates, stent-related complications, graft and patient survival, healthcare utilisation, intervention burden, and international variation in transplant practice. The registry will support collaboration between UK and international liver transplant centres with expertise in adult and paediatric transplantation and biodegradable biliary stent use. The database is intended to provide a real-world international dataset to improve understanding of outcomes associated with biodegradable biliary stent use in liver transplantation and support development of future prospective multicentre studies and evidence-based clinical practice.
