Research summary
Aim: To explore:
1. the impact of aphantasia on mental health experiences of psychosis (i.e., symptoms, diagnosis, treatment within mental health services).
2. the experience, presentations, and symptoms of psychosis in individuals identified to be aphantasic.
3. experience of mental health services, including diagnosis and treatment within the NHS.The objective of this study is to identify the different presentations and experiences of first episode psychosis in people identified to have aphantasia. This investigation will build a better understanding of the barriers experienced by this cohort including diagnosis and treatment.
